People’s Trust FCU Plans Five New Branches

HOUSTON – People’s Trust FCU, the former Shell Oil credit union, said it plans to build a branch per year over the next five years and redesign an existing branch to increase the credit union’s community presence.

The $355 million credit union said it has hired LEVEL5 of Atlanta to guide its expansion plan.

Founded 72 years ago for Shell Oil Company’s employees, the credit union expanded its charter and changed its name to People’s Trust FCU in 2005. The majority of the credit union’s branches are located in Shell facilities. One branch operates in the basement level of Shell headquarters, which is in the downtown Tunnel System, an interconnected series of shops and other services built 20 feet below downtown to offer relief from Houston’s typical hot weather.
