In the wake of congressional hearings in late 2005 questioning the validity of the CU tax exemption and what value credit unions offer, Credit Union Journal Editor Frank J. Diekmann challenged credit unions to answer the question: "How do you explain the difference between credit unions and banks?"
The Journal received dozens of responses, ranging from bumper-sticker slogans to full-blown media campaigns, with Suncoast Schools FCU in Tampa selected as winner of the first-ever Frankie Award. For details, see pages 4 and 10.
