With a many staffers working for 20 years or more, it's no surprise that Los Angeles Police Federal Credit Union offers a competitive and comprehensive employee benefits program. The 150 employees receive full medical benefits, a generous bonus and pension plan, employee tuition reimbursement and in-house training.
"We continually provide services to keep our employees engaged in wellness with a special 'Wellness Program,' which includes physical, mental, social and experiential components to help maintain their overall health and well-being," said Los Angeles Police Federal CU CEO G. Michael Padgett.
Employees value the credit union's law enforcement members and often "go above and beyond their roles," said Padgett. Many employees, he added, volunteer for the CU's "Citizens in a Proud Tradition" program.
"Over the years, our employees have volunteered thousands of hours, with employees donating many, many, hours of their personal time to help support our communities," said Padgett.
To ensure that employees' thoughts and concerns are heard by senior management, twice a year an Internal Service Survey and Annual Employee Service is conducted.
"These tools provide us with a good indicator of staff's satisfaction," said Padgett. "We have seen over recent years they have gotten more comfortable sharing their thoughts, which has helped us to build a better organization I believe."
The CU's "Spotlight Program" provides a forum for employees to recognize and thank each other for efforts that are "out of the norm" for their position, or for those who have lent a helping hand.
"This program is also very successful and has provided many employees great satisfaction knowing that their peers are appreciative of their support," said Padgett.
Founded in 1936, the CU currently operates four branches and serves more than 39, 000 members.
