Read All About It-New Name

The $53-million Arizona Media Credit Union has changed its name to First Edition Community Credit Union. The CU said it made the change to "better represent the credit union's wide diversity in its membership and to position the credit union for future growth in the Northeast Valley of the Phoenix metropolitan area."

"We were constantly hearing from people who were interested in joining but they thought the name meant the Credit Union was only for people in the media," said Shaun Ongstad, Chief Operating Officer of First Edition Community CU. "For future growth, we needed to change the name to be more inclusive of the community area of 42 zip codes in the Phoenix area in our field of membership."

The credit union was originally chartered in 1952 to serve the employees of The Arizona Republic and Phoenix Gazette. Today it serves almost 8,335 members.
