Red Sox Star Kevin Youkilis Goes To Bat For Liberty Bay CU

BRAINTREE, Mass. – Boston Red Sox star Kevin Youkilis will provide autographed photos today to members of Liberty Bay CU who have opened a new checking and savings account or applied for a loan at the credit union within the last 20 days.

The event is aimed at promoting the credit union’s new “50/50” program, which pays $50 to new members as an incentive to join and $50 to one of the credit union’s nonprofit clients for each member who joins.

In the case of people signing up to see Youkilis, Liberty Bay will make its nonprofit donation to Youk’s Kids.

Liberty Bay, formerly known as Telephone Workers’ CU, is focusing a membership drive on non-profit groups. The credit union provides traditional savings and lending services for nonprofits. But Liberty Bay also sends employees to clients’ fund-raising events to process credit card donations, and it offers bridge financing to help charities meet payroll obligations through tough times of the year. It reimburses any swipe fees that credit card companies normally would pass on to clients.
