HARTSELLE, Ala. - Three Montgomery men were arrested after they tried to pull off a $250,000 check fraud at Redstone FCU.
One of the men was charged with using a fake ID and stolen account information in an attempt to withdraw $250,000 from a credit union account while his two accomplices waited outside. The suspect, who was professionally dressed, walked up to a teller, identified himself as a member and told her he wanted to withdraw $250,000 from his account. At that point the teller and her co-workers became suspicious and called police. When the police arrived the suspects were still there and were taken into custody.
The suspects, identified as: Jeremy Carter, 21, Dandre Jones, 20, and Barry Purnell, 51, were charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree.
