Robber Captured After Police Shootout

CONYERS, Ga. – A man who robbed a Georgia’s Own CU branch yesterday afternoon was arrested after leading police on a high-speed chase then getting into a shootout just after 4 p.m.

During the chase, the man rammed three cars and then a police officer with his car, before an officer forced the suspect off the road.

The thief then started shooting at officers as he got out of the car and ran, police said. Officers said they returned fire, but no one sustained any gunshot wounds.

Police said they then chased the man on foot behind an Auto Zone and into an apartment complex, where he was taken into custody.

Some of the innocent crash victims received minor injuries from their cars being rammed by the suspect, police said.
