Robber Caught After He Breaks Ankle While Fleeing

TOPEKA, Kan. – A man fleeing from an Educational CU branch after attempting to rob it yesterday morning was captured by police after he stumbled and fell, breaking and dislocating his left ankle.

The assailant tried to rob the credit union but his efforts were thwarted for an unknown reason.

The would-be robber tried to escape by running south across a parking lot before he fell, according to police, who caught him in the parking lot.

He was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

The assailant was believed to have a hand gun, which was recovered between two vehicles in the parking lot.
