TOPEKA, Kan. – A Kansas City man charged with trying to rob Educational CU last week was riding a bicycle.
The alleged robber, identified as Charles Shaw, 54, rode a bike to the credit union at about 11:20 a.m., according to police.
A security guard became suspicious because Shaw, who was wearing a blue stocking cap and had a blue fanny pack, appeared to match the description of a suspect from a previous robbery. Shaw ran out of the credit union when the guard approached him. He was arrested after he slipped and fell. Police found a .45 caliber pistol in the fanny pack.
