Robbers Hit Travis CU For$50,000

DIXON, Calif. - (08/15/05) -- Authorities were hunting for threesuspects who robbed Travis CU at gunpoint Thursday and made offwith an estimated $50,000 after switching getaway cars in a nearbyapartment complex. Two of the suspects entered the credit unionbranch around 10:22 am brandishing handguns. While one kept sixmembers at bay, the other hopped the teller counter and emptied thecash drawers, then forced an employee to open the cash vault. Therobbery took less than a minute to complete; then the two armed menfled in a 1984 Oldsmobile with a third suspect driving. That car,which was stolen, was found with its engine still running in theparking lot of a nearby apartment complex.
