TUCSON, Ariz. A suspect who police believe robbed a Pyramid FCU branch on Feb. 28 has died from a self-inflicted gunshot in Cochise County.
The armed robbery suspect, described in surveillance videos as 6-feet tall with a large build, was later identified as Kirk Luethy. Police say Luethy entered the credit union with a mask over his face and a gun in his hand. He demanded money from a teller and then fled the scene on foot.
Police made contact later that evening with a man in a truck. When deputies tried to pull the truck over, the driver took off. Deputies say they pursued the truck and when it stopped again suddenly, Luethy was found inside the truck with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police later found evidence in the truck linking Luethy to the earlier robbery in Tucson.
