ANCHORAGE, Alaska –A man suspected of robbing an Alaska USA FCU branch Sunday, and who shot a policeman during a bank robbery 25 years ago, killed himself yesterday morning after police cornered him in a motorhome hideout.

Michael Stith, 50, was found dead inside the motorhome after police, who had surrounded the RV, heard a gunshot inside.
Stith was sought on charges connected with Sunday’s credit union hold up, after which he allegedly walked across the street and carjacked a getaway car. Stitch was believed responsible for two other armed robberies last week.
Stith was convicted of shooting and injuring a police officer, Ross Plummer, in 1979. Plummer now is deputy chief of the Anchorage Police Department.
