CANTON, N.Y. – An armed assailant who held up a SeaComm FCU branch Friday night got away with $221,500 after forcing tellers to enter the vault and fill a duffel bag with money.
The robber, armed with a handgun, walked into the branch at shortly before the 6 p.m. closing and demanded money from a teller, then forced tellers into the branch’s vault and demanded they fill up a gray duffel bag with money, according to police.
The robber, who was inside the bank for less than two minutes, then left the credit union carrying the bag.
The credit union is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the robber.
The same branch was also robbed in December 2006 when two men tied up two employees and got away with a bank bag containing about $270,000. That robbery was never solved.
