SEATTLE – A local auto dealer last week was sentenced to 41 months in prison for recruiting others to help him defraud four credit unions of hundreds of thousands of dollars, which he used to prop up his automobile dealership and take an extravagant trip to Las Vegas.
Edward Asatoorians, 36, helped college students and others doctor paperwork to fraudulently get loans to buy vehicles from Asatoorians' dealership, London Autos, that the dealership didn't own. Credit unions were cheated out of about $200,000.
The credit unions victims were: Seattle Metropolitan CU, Watermark CU, Washington State Employees CU and Alaska USA FCU.
Asatoorians' co-defendant, Maxi Sopo, fled to Mexico during the investigation but was arrested in Cancun after taunting U.S. authorities on his Facebook page.
