Security Big Issue At CTC Meeting

System and data security was the chief issue of discussion during the CUNA Technology Council Summit here.

"Security was on the top of everyone's mind and presentations covering multiple layers of defense to incident responses were highlights in this area," said Chairman Jim Morrell, VP-information systems for iQ Credit Union in Vancouver, Wash.

Over the next year the group will be guided by a list of technology trends it settled upon following discussion at the meeting.

Meanwhile, during the Summit, the group also elected its new board and executive committee. In addition to Morell, Tom Kroen, AVP-information technology for First Technology CU, Beaverton, Ore., was elected vice chair; and Brian Warfel, senior VP-sales and service for Power 1 CU in Hialeah, Fla., was elected secretary/treasurer. Gordon Gregory, VP technology for Mazuma CU in Kansas City, Mo., was named to the council's executive committee after Dan Kinne, VP information technology for Silver State Schools Family CU in Las Vegas, stepped down from the council's executive committee.
