NEW ORLEANS – A man who confessed to eight credit union and banks robberies in five states during a three-month spree last year was sentenced to 10 years in prison and ordered to repay $26,608–the amount of money he stole in the eight heists.

George Cuthbertson, 54, gave himself up to police in Denton, Texas, last June 10 after the last one, at Alabama CU in Tuscaloosa, Ala., when a witness took down his license number and authorities traced the getaway car to him.
Among the eight was a robbery at Carter FCU, in Springhill, La.
