Araujo will succeed Andrew McGeorge, who has been serving as president and CEO on an interim basis since the summer, a spokeswoman for Service told Credit Union Journal. McGeorge will return to his position as the credit union’s chief financial officer.

“The board is confident David is the right person to build on the credit union’s momentum,” Joanne Whiting, Service’s chairman, said in a statement.

Araujo has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. Most recently he served as chief technology and innovation officer at the $8.5 billion-asset Digital Federal Credit Union of Marlborough, Mass.

Service earned roughly $25.8 million in the first nine months of 2018, down about 2 percent from the same period in 2017.
