PORTSMOUTH, N.H.-- Service CU announced Friday it has donated $30,000 to the Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial Project in Washington D.C., helping to further the foundation’s goal of $100 Million Dollars to complete the project and making the credit union a Founding Sponsor.
"Service Credit Union is proud to be among those honoring the life of Doctor King through the creation of this historic monument," says Gordon Simmons, president of Service CU. "Dr. King personified social responsibility and the ideals that we live by at credit unions. He continues to inspire us with his remarkable leadership."
A memorial honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. will be built on the National Mall in Washington The Memorial will be situated adjacent to the F.D.R. Memorial and in a direct line between the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials. The Memorial is scheduled to be completed in 2008.
