PORTSMOUTH, N.H. – Service CU gave a $75,000 check yesterday to Homes for Our Troops, a non-profit that helps wounded soldiers returning from battle.
The groups assists severely injured servicemen and women and their immediate families by raising donations, building materials and professional labor and then coordinating the process of building a new home or adapting an existing home for handicapped accessibility. The finished home is given free to veterans.
The credit union’s donation will help disabled military personnel in New England with housing.
The Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire credit union leagues are helping Homes for Our Troops hold a fundraiser in Boston on June 13. Proceeds will be used to build homes that have been carefully constructed to meet the needs of soldiers who have been seriously injured in battle.
