Service CU Plans 100,000-Square-Foot Headquarters

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. – Service CU, a fast-growing $1.8 billion defense credit union, is preparing a proposal to build a 100,000-square-foot corporate headquarters in the city's recently adopted “Gateway District.”

Preliminary plans call for a “football shaped,” curved four-story building topped with solar panels and skylights. The project is being designed by Gund Partnership of Cambridge, Mass.

The Gateway District offers developers incentives including approval for higher density projects, the ability to build on more of their lots, to build taller buildings and to build closer to the road along this seaport city’s Route 1 corridor. The incentives are offered in exchange for “higher quality design,” pedestrian spaces, sustainable elements, plazas and landscaping.

Over the past 12 months Service has increased its assets by 18%.
