NEW ORLEANS Shell New Orleans FCU yesterday said it changed the name of the $110-million credit union to Xplore Federal Credit Union.
“Although we have had a community charter since 2007, a common misconception remains membership is still exclusive to Shell Oil employees,” said Michelle Duhe, president of the credit union. “Our new name, Xplore Federal Credit Union, pays tribute to our founders the employees of Shell who continue to explore, discover and contribute to make our community a great place to live and work.”
“This name change better positions us for future growth and diversification by serving more people in our community who deserve a quality, member-owned financial institution,” Duhe said.
The credit union held open houses at each of its three branches Monday to celebrate the name change. All of the branches had snacks and giveaways throughout the day.
