SHREVEPORT, La. – The former manager of the Bastrop branch of Shreveport FCU pled guilty Tuesday to stealing an estimated $460,000 from the branch.
Connie White was charged in March for felony theft after admitting she had taken $296,500 for the credit union while working there. A grand jury later charged White with three additional counts of felony theft, with a total of $460,000 stolen.
Helen Godfrey-Smith, president of Shreveport FCU, said that an internal audit uncovered funds missing from cash transferred to the branch and put in the vault. She said that White also took two corporate checks and cashed them at other banks in Bastrop.
White was sentenced to seven years in prison and agreed to make restitution to the credit union of $29,000 and to their insurance carrier in the amount of $431,000 after her sentence is served.
