Silver State Schools CU Deploys Force 10 Network For Data Switching

LAS VEGAS – Silver State Schools CU said yesterday it has implemented Force 10 Networks’ core and edge switching solutions to power its statewide branch network.

Silver State Schools maintains its main branch in Las Vegas, and connects its data center there to 13 branches in Las Vegas and one in Reno. The C300 systems make up the credit union’s core network, while the C150 switches provide hundreds of 1-Gigabit ports to desktop users through wiring closets at the main site. At the branches, Force10 S50 switches provide 44 1-Gigabit connections to desktop users.

"The increase in uplink bandwidth has given us faster transaction processing from our desktop users, and the systems have been completely reliable since we deployed them,” said Robert Rivas, network manager for the $700 million credit union.
