BRAINERD, Minn. - (09/16/04) -- Participants in last weekend'sfundraiser for the Minnesota CU Network were all wet. Credit unionexecutives raised more than $3,500 for political contributionsthrough a series of events at the Minnesota league's fallconference, which culminated in the first annual goldfish races.The races, featuring eight fish per races, included qualifyingheats and finals. "This type of fundraiser is an interactive way tobring people into the political process that might not normallyconsider contributing to CULAC or a political campaign," said JoeMathews, chief lobbyist for the league. The funds will go to CUNA'spolitical action committee, known as CULAC.
