MELBOURNE, Fla. – Space Coast CU, which expanded into the Miami market with last year’s acquisition of failed Eastern Financial Florida CU, was given permission by state regulators to expanded further south into Florida’s Keys.
State regulators last week approved the $3.3 billion credit union’s application to serve residents of Martin and Monroe counties, which stretch all the way to Key West, 160 miles south of Miami.
The regulators also approved a request by Achieva CU, located at the foot of the Keys, in Largo, Fla., to serve almost all of Hillsborough County, on Florida’s Gulf Coast.
