Speedy Serial Robber Sentenced To 30 Years Behind Bars

BOSTON – A Massachusetts man known as the “U-30 Bandit” for eight robberies he claimed were committed in less than 30 seconds was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

In November Dimitri Long pleaded guilty to robberies at Ukrainian CU in Dedham in May 2009, Sharon CU in June 2009 and six other institutions within a two-month period in the Boston suburbs of Wellesley, Needham, Newton, Dedham and Sharon.

Long entered the institutions flashing a black handgun. In three of them, he placed fake bombs on the tellers’ counters. When he was arrested in July 2009 he was carrying a black nylon bag containing money and a BB gun.

He was ordered to pay $49,460 restitution and an $800 special assessment.

Long’s half-brother, Michael Coty, admitted driving a getaway car in three of the holdups. Last year, Coty was sentenced to five years.
