SACRAMENTO, Calif. - A man convicted of seven area credit union and bank robberies last week was sentenced to a year in prison for each of the heists–a total of seven years behind bars.
Brian Traynor, 42, was dubbed the Sports Cap bandit because he wore a black baseball cap with the name and logo of the Oakland Raiders NFL team on it.
Traynor pleaded guilty to an Aug. 8, 2005 robbery at the SAFE CU branch in Sacramento where he made of with $1,965, a March 2, 2007 robbery at the Golden 1 CU branch in Rocklin, where he stole $4,900, as well as hold ups at Wells Fargo, Citibank, California Bank and Trust and two incidents at Bank of the West.
