State Charters Push Limits On FOM

- SACRAMENTO, Calif. (09/11/00) - State regulatorsaround the country have already approved the inclusion of majorcities in credit unions' FOMs, even while NCUA is studying whetherto approve such precedent-setting requests. Among the major citiesalready included within state credit unions' FOMs are SanFrancisco, San Diego, Dallas, Boston, and St. Louis, as well assecond-tier cities like Austin, Texas, Madison, Wis., andTallahassee, Fla. In addition, applications are still pending forstate charters to serve more than 15 million people in and aroundLos Angeles (Telesis CU) and for a statewide charter serving all ofConnecticut (Sikorsky FCU).
