Student Teller Thwarts Scammer

A student working in a student-run branch of Mission FCU located inside Hoover High School thwarted a scammer attempting to cash a fraudulent check. MFCU, which identified the junior only as "Jessica," said a white female between 30 and 45 yers of age attempted to cash the check, but after pulling the signature card Jessica noticed the signature on the fraudulent check wasn't even close.

Jessica in turn notified a supervisor, who called the member and who reported that her checkbook had been stolen. Police were called while Jessica stalled the suspect long enough for an arrest to be made.
