Succession plan in place at Financial Plus Credit Union

Brad Bergmooser will take the helm as CEO of Flint, Mich.-based Financial Plus Credit Union starting on Jan. 2, 2020.

Bergmooser, who previously worked at Baxter Credit Union in Vernon Hills, Ill., as general counsel and vice president of fraud, replaces Marilyn Reno who is retiring, though the exact date of her retirement is unknown.

He holds an undergraduate degree in political science from Western Michigan University, a law degree from the University of Toledo College of Law and a Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame.

Along with his credit union experience, Bergmooser also brings legal prowess to the table with senior legal roles at the Illinois credit union system under his belt.

“I’m at a point where I’ve amassed the right level and diversity of experience to manage the challenges of being a CEO,” Bergmooser said in a statement. “I am excited to combine my outside experiences with my Michigan roots and am looking forward to getting to know and serving the membership of Financial Plus Credit Union.”

Financial Plus reported a net income of $1.37 million during the first half of 2019, down from more than $1.9 million one year prior.
