Sunlight FCU names new president/CEO

Sunlight Federal Credit Union, a $106 million institution based in Cody, Wyo., has named Steven Pearson as its new president and CEO, effective June 26.

Pearson comes to Sunlight FCU from Fellowship Credit Union, a $24.5 million institution based in Lamar, Colo., where he served as CEO. Pearson will succeed Cindy Bennett who is retiring after 18 years at Sunlight FCU, serving eight years as an office manager and ten years as president and CEO.

During Bennett's tenure as CEO, the credit union’s assets approximately doubled from $57 million to $106 million.

Sunlight FCU has generated net income of about $1 million in each of the past two calendar years, according to its call reports.

Meanwhile, Fellowship CU posted a net loss of about $21,000 in 2016, after recording net income of almost $91,000 in the prior year.

In addition to having served at Fellowship CU, Pearson has a Bachelor of Science in applied management from North American University in Rapid City, S.D.

Credit Union Resources, a unit of the Cornerstone Credit Union League, conducted the executive search for Sunlight FCU.
