GREENEVILLE, Tenn. Police say ATMs at Consumer CU and First Tennessee Bank were vandalized last week with super glue in what may have been a scheme to obtain debit cards and account information.
The two ATMs had super glue poured into the keypads some time Thursday night. Police think the incidents may be related to several other incidents nationwide in which suspects poured glue on the cancel and clear buttons to prevent patrons from canceling their transactions.
On some machines, this prevents the ATM from ejecting the debit card. While the unsuspecting customer goes for help, the suspect moves in, waits for the machine to eject the card due to inactivity, and takes off with the card.
