Suspect Opened CU Account In Member’s Name

WATERLOO, Iowa – A man was arrested for allegedly drawing thousands of dollars from another man's Veridien CU account and then opening up a credit card account under the man's name.

Charles Stohr, 36, allegedly bought a $1,500 treadmill with Fitness Warehouse Club credit card and drained $15,520 from the victim's Veridian account.

Police said Stohr and another person moved money from the credit union account using over-the-phone transfers in 2009. The credit card account was opened in October 2011.

Stohr was charged with first-degree theft and identity theft.
