Suspect Shot To Death During Weekend Robbery At Chartway FCU

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. A man was killed by an off-duty police officer as he tried to rob a Chartway FCU branch here Saturday morning.

An armed male wearing a mask and dark clothes entered the credit union around 10 a.m. and announced the robbery, according to police.

The off-duty officer was one of the members in the credit union. He confronted the robber, then fired at least one shot when the robber turned toward him, killing the robber.

No one else was injured in the incident.

Police have not yet released his identity of the robber or the off-duty officer.
