NORTH HIGHLANDS, Calif. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department called out its SWAT team after a man and woman allegedly burglarized a SAFE CU branch Sunday morning, and then barricaded themselves inside.
Sheriff’s dispatch received a call of a burglary around 8:30 a.m. after loud noises were heard coming from the credit union. Deputies believe the sounds were made when Cody Muscarella and Angelic Gonzalez smashed their way into the branch.
Deputies established contact with Gonzalez over the phone, but she said she was afraid to come out of the building because she was worried there was a group of people outside that would get her.
The SWAT team responded to the scene, entered the building, and took Muscarella and Gonzalez into custody without incident.
