Beware Of 'Zeuzbot' Attack
AUSTIN, Texas-A "zeusbot" attack is bypassing many anti-virus and malware scanning software used by credit union members, putting their personal financial jeopardy when they log-ion to their CU's homebanking service, according to the Credit Union Information Security Professionals Association (CUISPA). The zeusbot infects a computer and waits for the user to login to online banking, then it launches a pop-up screen asking the user to further verify login by entering credit c ard data-all of which is then open to the hackers. Even if a skeptical member doesn't give his credit card data, the online banking log-in has already been gathered by the hacker, CUISPA noted. In cases where members report activity, CUISPA said credit unions' only recourse is to have members shut down, wipe and reload their PC, while the CU changes account passwords.
Sunmark Launches New Website
LATHAM, N.Y.-Sunmark FCU recently launched a new website for its members, which it said would boost member service and support offerings to community business partners. The revamped site provides users with a new user-friendly toolbar and provides the opportunity for users to chat with a live operator. Links to Sunmark's social media prescence have also been embedded to allow any user to access the credit union's Facebook and LinkedIn pages.

Golden 1 CU Pushes Z@PiT Tool
SACRAMENTO, Calif.-The Golden 1 CU has been actively promoting Z@PiT Online Deposit, its in-house remote deposit solution, after a soft launch last summer. The credit union's president called Z@PiT an extension of its online banking system and noted that the number of Golden 1 members using the Internet for banking is constantly increasing.
CU Launches Online Advisory Panel
TORONTO, Ontario, Canada-Alterna Savings launched a new on-line advisory panel that gathers information on new products, initiatives and member experiences and consolidates that information through a web portal. AlternaSphere allows the CU to obtain timely and accurate information about its members and understand what they want. The CU said the solution would enhance its ability to collaborate actively with its members.
