Trio Win Tech Awards From Council

MADISON, Wis.-Affinity Plus FCU, Pen Air FCU and Pioneer West Virginia FCU have been named as winners of the 2011 CUNA Technology Council Best Practices Awards. The awards recognize outstanding approaches to technology challenges with potential for universal application across the credit union industry.

Affinity Plus FCU in Saint Paul, Minn., won for its creation and implementation of an e-contract workflow process that allows for business contracts to be easily located, accessed and stored.

Pen Air FCU in Pensacola, Fla., won for its business continuity plan and failover site development. With the minimal investment they were able to provide Pen Air and its members greater security that their systems would be available when they needed them.

Pioneer West Virginia FCU in Charleston, W. Va., won for developing a daily dashboard with key metrics to proactively identify potential business risks and opportunities.

Mobile Access In Alaska

ANCHORAGE, Alaska-Alaska USA FCU has released a free mobile access app for iPhone and Android devices. The Alaska USA app combines the most frequently requested information about the credit union with the most popular features of its online account access site, UltraBranch. The app offers the same features on both iOS (iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch) and Android devices, and can be downloaded through the App Store and the Android Market.

Response Exceeds Projections

LAKE JACKSON, Texas-Since the launch of a mobile app earlier this year, TDECU reported that mobile subscribers had grown to 50% vs. a target of 10% and the number of mobile transactions has grown 30%. Members in all 50 states and in 16 different countries are actively using the apps.

TDECU noted that in a recent listing by Netbanker of the 65 Most Popular iPhone Apps from U.S. institutions, it came in at No. 14, and is one of only 16 organizations out of the top 65 to have an iPad app.
