CUISPA IT Risk Summit Set
BOSTON-Risk-management strategies for credit union IT executives will be the focus of a meeting here July 18-20. The Credit Union Information System Professional Association (CUISPA) IT Risk Management Summit will discuss issues pertaining to PCI compliance, fraud detection, and encryption strategies, among other topics. The meeting is being hosted by the $1.2-billion Baxter CU in Illinois.
"As all credit unions, we have seen increasing pressure from a regulatory and risk perspective. But as a large institution, we have unique issues, shared by other institutions of our size," said Alex Rams, technical analyst with Baxter Credit Union. "Sharing our findings across the table can have a dramatic impact on each of our security programs. While some of us are focusing efforts on encryption strategies, others are focusing on fraud detection solutions. By meeting face-to-face, as security managers, we can share experiences and determine which solutions are working and which ones are simply drains on our resources."

PULSE Offers Safety Tips
HOUSTON-As debit usage grows at the point of purchase, PULSE EFT Association has launched its annual nationwide effort encouraging consumers to review and practice safety tips when using their ATM/debit cards. As part of the campaign, PULSE is offering tips ranging from drive-up ATM safety to precautions for preventing identity theft to its more than 4,400 participating financial institutions.
These tips are delivered through a variety of materials, including lobby brochures, card protectors, deposit envelopes, statement inserts, electronic brochures and website links.
