New CU-Owned Firm Inks Deal

MADISON, Wis.-MEMBERS Development Co., LLC, which is a consortium of 37 credit unions/CUSOs and CUNA Mutual Group, has joined with and Access Softek to announce a "strategic alliance" for offering financial services to credit unions and their members that the partners said will be a "broader strategy than just account aggregation."

The Berkeley, Calif.-based Access Softek, an Internet financial services provider, will supply a "soon-to-be announced set of Web services to credit unions. The services will form a foundation for what will become a complete on-line solution for account aggregation and personal financial management," according to CUNA Mutual. Together, MDC and Access Softek, will offer credit unions an opportunity to present to their members a customized on-line suite of financial management benefits, said John Henry, MDC chief executive officer and vice president of CUNA Mutual Group's MEMBER Services Sales.

No Need To Retype Information

ATLANTA-Printing technology provider Blauser Technologies and Bankers Systems, Inc. have partnered to create a system that manufactures loan coupon books and loan proceed checks for members.

The companies said the new system will eliminate the need to retype member information and will make the loan documentation process move from origination to payment more easily.

Custom-Build Your Own Car

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif-CU Direct Corp. has introduce a new website that allows members to speculate on their automotive dream machines. The site, www.cudirect.com, allows visitors to custom-build their vehicle online and then send the model's specs to dealerships for a quote on pricing and availability. The site also features a link to the Kelley Blue Book website for pricing on new and used cars, and to Carfax, where members can look up the history of a used vehicle.

According to CU Direct, the site can be co-branded with the logos of credit unions that are customers of the Credit Union Direct Lending system, allowing members to link back to their credit union at any time. The company said the member accesses the site through the credit union's site, with the same feature allowing auto dealers to process member loans back to the member's credit union. Payment calculators based on price and loan terms are incorporated in the site, the major new feature of which, said CU Direct, is CUDL Fleet Direct Program, which uses Web Carbook for vehicle research and ordering.

CUMAnet Offers No-Fee Moves

BEDMINSTER, N.J.-The Credit Union Mortgage Alliance Network (CUMAnet) has partnered with Relocation Dynamics of Somerville, N.J. The alliance allows CUMAnet to offer its client credit unions no-fee relocation benefits to members, the company said, including home selling and finding assistance, temporary housing, appraisals, home inspection referral, cost of living analysis, and access to discounted interstate moving and school reporting services.

E-Invest Goes 24/7 With Advice

ATLANTA-E-Invest announced it is now offering round-the-clock investment advice. E-Invest said its advisors are able to walk clients through every part of the investment process, from determining an asset- allocation model, to information gathering, to the actual purchase of a financial product. The Internet company added that its licensed advisors are available 24/7 via a toll-free number or online through its secured website, and advisors also have the ability to send information to a client's browser. FIData, e-Merchant In Agreement

AUSTIN-FIData, Inc., an automated loan approval vendor for credit unions, and eMerchant Group, a Chattanooga, Tenn.-based company offering access to 130 on-line stores, have signed an agreement to bring integrated on-line lending and e-shopping services to credit unions nationwide.

The companies said the services can be branded to the credit union, with all loan and credit card activity directed back to the sponsoring CU. There is also a free ISP component as well as a revenue sharing and member affinity program, the firms reported.

The alliance will allow eMerchant Group and FIData to coordinate implementation and usage of the on-line shopping, ISP and lending services provided by the two companies, according to a joint statement. For example, on-line shoppers will be able to access the credit union's FIData-built loan application pages directly from the eMerchant Group shopping pages.

Mortgage Builder Adds Linux

DETROIT-Mortgage Builder Software, Inc.(MBSI) has announced a new platform for its loan origination system, Mortgage Builder through Linux. The company said the Linux port gives mortgage brokers, bankers, and credit unions a low maintenance server that is fast and stable. The Linux operating system adds to MBSI's UNIX and Windows NT platforms. Linux is a UNIX-like operating system that is designed to provide mortgage companies a low-cost operating system comparable to traditional and usually more expensive UNIX systems. Cost savings for Linux users are reflected by up- time and the lack of ongoing maintenance. Linux offers a complete operating system, including a web server and e-mail components. 'NextGen' Boosts Loan Profits

SAN RAFAEL, Calif.-Fair, Isaac and Co., Inc. said it can increase profits for lenders by as much as $10 per applicant with its new credit risk scoring program, "Next Generation" (NextGen). That figure assumes applicants are scored over a two-year period. The company said the boost in predictive strength is due to NextGen scores' new design blueprint, which is based on predictive technology. TransUnion and Equifax are already using NextGen. BSCU Members Offered More

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla.-Members of Broward Schools Credit Union will be able to access account statements online, thanks to an agreement between the credit union, the Englewood, Colo.-based cavion.com, and Online Bank Docs, Inc. The service was added to BSCU's website. The credit union reports that nearly 10% of its 34,000 members are regular users of its online service.

OSI Offers Biztravel Benefits

GLASTONBURY, Conn.-Open Solutions, Inc. has allied with PayMaxx, a payroll processing company, to enable clients to process all payroll transactions from payment to reporting via the Internet. Open Solutions said the technology is designed for institutions with 100 or fewer employees, and also has the capability for nationwide tax filing, electronic new hire reporting, and direct deposit.

Meanwhile, Open Solutions has also announced that it will feature Biztravel.com's business travel management services on its on-line banking and commerce network. Some of the services Open Solutions said it will be featuring are travel management, including wireless notifications of flight departures, airfare price protection, and a program that refunds customers for inconveniences or cancellations of flights.

ePSCU To Lead New Effort

MILFORD, Conn.- MembersResources.com has announced an agreement with Payment Systems for Credit Unions (PSCU) under which PSCU will provide 24/7 call-center support service for MembersResources.com's website. The effort at PSCU is being led by ePSCU, a division of PSCU dedicated entirely to Internet product development, delivery, and support. Credit unions will have the option of offering ePSCU's "Click-to-Talk" service feature, which allows a credit union member to receive assistance on-line by "chatting" with a customer service representative. This interactive text-based chat feature eliminates the previous requirement that the user disconnect from the Internet to speak with a representative, and also enables ePSCU's customer service representatives to see the same web pages the user is viewing and to either lead the user to other web pages or follow the user's browsing activities. In addition, MembersResources.com will assist in promoting ePSCU's EasyToCUInfoLink product, which allows a credit union member to obtain information about their credit card account(s) through the CU's website, regardless of processing platform.

SEG Software Gets Enhancement

AGOURA HILLS, Calif.-New Vision Marketing, Inc. has announced the release of its new SEGManager 2000 Professional Knowledge Management Software.

JOHNSTON, Iowa-Electronic funds transfer company SHAZAM announced it has eclipsed 178-million transactions for the fiscal year 2000. SHAZAM said the number includes ATM, point-of-sale, and electronic benefit transfer transactions, and reflects a 16% increase from the fiscal year 1999.
