SOUTH JORDAN, Utah – A former teller at Goldenwest CU was sentenced to 30 months in jail and ordered to pay $51,280 for helping his friend rob the credit union last July.
According to 21-year-old Jeffery Nay, he and his friend planned the robbery days before they carried it out on July 3.
Nay’s friend, Curtis Cordery remains at large, so the court ordered Nay to repay the stolen cash.
Nay admitted that he sent a text message that day telling Cordery the credit union branch was clear. Cordery entered the building with a mask over his face and drew a black BB gun that resembled a semiautomatic handgun from his waistband. He then forced two tellers into the vault and filled a black bag with cash before fleeing in Nay’s car.
The FBI says Cordery had his red hair dyed black at an Ogden hair salon after the heist but his wife was able to identify him from footage of the robbery.
