TYLER, Texas – Two half brothers, charged in November with two area bank robberies, are scheduled to be brought back to federal court in connection with as many as 13 additional credit union and bank heists.

Derrick Van Hodges, 34, and his half brother, Paul Thomas, 40, are believed to be the “Takeover Bandits” who hit the credit unions and banks for a total of $180,000.
The men are suspected in the March 2005 robbery at East Texas Professional CU, a December 2005 hold-up at Kelly Tyler FCU, and several other area institutions.
In most of the robberies the assailants brandished and discharged guns, forced people to lie on the ground and took off with large sums of cash that have yet to be recovered.
