Texas CU Giant Carves Out More Colorado Market

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Security Service was approved by NCUA to add more than 200,000 residents in underserved markets in Colorado to its field of membership, expanding its growing presence in Colorado.

The NCUA action gives Security Service additional markets in the cities of Broomfield, Loveland, Longmont, Greeley, Ft. Collins and Boulder, where the $6.5 billion credit union has surfaced as a result of acquiring six Colorado credit union, dating all the way back to 1980. The most recent was a deal for the failed Norbel CU in Ft. Collins in July 2010.

Security Service has also entered key Utah markets over the past two years with deals for two large credit union failures, Beehive CU in Salt Lake City and Family First FCU in Orem.

NCUA also approved the virtual conversion of Sb1 FCU in Philadelphia, a multiple group charter serving the pharmaceutical industry, to a community charter by approving its request to 640,000 residents of underserved communities in Philadelphia.
