Texas CU Giant Switches To State Charter

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – State regulators said this morning they have approved the conversion to state charter for NavyArmy FCU, facilitating a broad community charter for the $1.3 billion credit union which would encompass 1.2 million people in surrounding Hidalgo and Cameron counties.

The Texas giant, chartered in 1955 as Naval Employees Corpus Christi FCU, has not yet received approval for the new field of membership from the Texas CU Department. The new name of the credit union will be Navy Army Community CU.

Separately, the state credit union regulator has also received an application from $160 million YOUR Community CU in Irving to serve 6.5 million residents in Dallas and Harris counties, which would be one of the biggest community grants ever in the Lone Star State.
