Texas Governor Runs In Texas Twister 10K

Texas Gov. Rick Perry joined with 300 other runners in the 2nd Annual Credit Union Texas Twister 10K here. The day featured the 10K Run/Walk, a Team Challenge, a Kids K and live band. The Twister Run raised more than $60,000 and will benefit Children's Miracle Network and hurricane relief efforts.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, the Army's Task Force Eagle, stationed at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan, organized a sister run. Although members of Task Force Eagle coordinated the 10K, 450 members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and other coalition forces such as South Korea, Poland, France and Slovakia participated.

T-shirts, banners, race numbers and prizes were provided by the Credit Union Texas Twister committee for the runners in Afghanistan. Air Force personnel planned a Halloween costume party in conjunction with the Credit Union Texas Twister 10K.
