DALLAS – In the latest cooperation between state trade groups, the Oklahoma and Texas credit union leagues announced an agreement yesterday in which the Texas league will begin providing a number of back office functions, including human resources and finance, for the Oklahoma league.
The move is being made to achieve greater efficiencies of scale, according to both leagues. "We believe this allows our staff to focus on key membership strategies such as legislative and regulatory relations, compliance, public relations, and assistance to credit unions by reinstating the positions of league representatives," said Debra Morrow Ingram, who was named CEO of the Oklahoma league this week. Texas league CEO Dick Ensweiler said the move sets the stage additional and future cooperation."
The Texas league serves nearly 600 credit unions in the Lone Star State; the Oklahoma league 78 credit unions.
The deal comes as the Florida and Alabama leagues are negotiating a partnership arrangement and other leagues are reported to be interested in teaming up.
