Texas Telethon Raises PAC Money

The Texas Credit Union League had raised $25,000 for its TCUL PAC at its first ever telethon last week, and money was still coming in at press time.

Even before the official close of business, the trade group had surpassed its goal of $20,000.

"With this being our first-ever telethon, we didn't know quite what to expect," said TCUL's Allison Castle. "The first one had to be postponed due to the hurricanes. It just was not the time to ask for PAC contributions-people had more important things to contribute to at that time."

The league gathered a group together at TCUL headquarters to man the phones. This most recent PAC fundraising effort comes on the heels of TCUL CEO Dick Ensweiler's foray into skydiving for a cause, jumping out of a "perfectly good airplane" to help raise money for the league's political action efforts.
