The Cooperative Trust on the hunt for next leader

Lauren Culp has left the Cooperative Trust to take over as publisher and CEO of CUInsight, the first time that position has existed there.

Lauren Culp, formerly of The Cooperative Trust, will become CEO of CUInsight on Sept. 3, 2019

Culp, who began leading the young professionals' program just over two years ago, left the Cooperative Trust on Aug. 23, according to the Filene Research Institute, which houses the group. Her first day at CUInsight will be Sept. 3.

Randall Smith, co-founder of CUInsight, had served as its publisher. In a statement issued by CUInsight, the company said Smith, along with co-founder David Miller, will remain “engaged,” as the duo will oversee the business “from an ownership advisory position.”

Smith will serve in a “strategic innovation role,” the company added.

During her time at the Cooperative Trust, Culp was credited with having led the largest Crash the GAC event in the group's history. Before joining Filene, she worked at True North Federal Credit Union in Alaska for five years.

“I am thrilled to take the helm of such an innovative and collaborative organization,” said Culp. “CUInsight serves as a valuable resource for credit unions and our partners. It is an honor to join the team and continue to support the incredible work credit unions do every day.”

CUInsight said it engaged Humanidei to perform the search for its publisher and CEO.

“CUInsight has had 10 great years serving the credit union industry so far,” Smith said in a statement. “To keep bringing new value to the industry, we needed to prepare for bigger growth. Lauren’s history of engagement across the industry and her strategic vision make her the perfect choice to drive us forward.”
