ARLINGTON, Texas A man who used a bomb threat to rob Educational Employees CU last Saturday was himself robbed of the $5,000 moments after he fled the credit union.
Surveillance video shows the suspect, identified as Larry Poulos, entering the branch around 1:15 p.m., waiting in line, then handing the teller a note claiming he had a bomb, before fleeing with more than $5,000 cash.
Police say Poulos ran to his apartment about a mile away where two men were waiting for him and they promptly stole the loot. Police say the suspect’s roommate confirmed the second robbery.
The roommate, during his interview with the FBI, said that Poulos had returned to the apartment not long after 1 p.m. and disappeared into a back bedroom. A few minutes later, two men came into the apartment and soon after emerged carrying a sack full of cash.
When police arrived they found Poulos wandering through the apartment complex, bleeding from a minor head wound. He told officers that he had just been robbed, carefully omitting the details about where the stolen money had come from. Witnesses at the credit union explained why.
Poulos now faces federal bank robbery charges.
