WACO, Texas – Three Americans charged with two U.S. holdups, including a July 11 robbery at Texell CU in Temple, were captured in Mexico and are awaiting extradition to face charges.
The three were arrested Sept. 5 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and were deported the next day. Investigators say all three have appeared in court in Houston, pending transfer to Waco.
A week after the robbery in Temple, the FBI announced it was looking for the three, who were believed to be traveling with two Boston terriers in a 2006 Buick Rendezvous SUV.
The suspects rented hotel rooms in Georgetown, San Antonio and Laredo and purchased $3,500 in money cards and clothing to facilitate an escape to Mexico, according to federal prosecutors.
Authorities believe the three may be linked to as many as four robberies.
