AKRON, Oho – Towpath CU is offering to pay members who bring in their loose change this week an extra 10% of the total they bring in, as part of this year’s saving campaign, "Akron Saves."
The credit union is one of six financial institutions participating in the Akron Roll Your Change Week, which encourages people to bring in their change and deposit it into savings accounts.
As part of the saving promotion, the credit union is bringing in coin-sorting machines to its two branches where it will roll loose change for free. The credit union is also awarding a $100, three-month certificate of deposit to the member who deposits the highest amount between the two branches. If there's a tie, they'll have a drawing to determine the winner.
Most participating banks are encouraging people to bring in their rolled change to deposit into their existing accounts or to open no-fee, no-minimum savings accounts. A few are also offering drawings for prizes.
